A genuine research finding — increased intestinal permeability is measurable, diet-responsive, and associated with real diseases — crosses into consumer culture, where it is stretched in two directions at once: every symptom gets attributed to it, and every product claims to fix it. The result is the "leaky gut" of wellness media: a universal diagnosis that explains fatigue on Tuesday and joint pain on Thursday, with a supplement stack attached to both. None of that is required by the science. The measured phenomenon is narrow, conditional, and disease-contextual; the marketing version is broad, confident, and universal. Where the Evidence Is Solid
Permeability science is strongest where a specific disease sits on the other side of the measurement. The Product Pattern
The commercial funnel has a stable shape, and recognizing it is most of the defense. Step one: a test that flags you — the panels critiqued on the measurement problem page.
