Two silver linings belong in the same breath. The Sleep Multiplier

Nutrition is the material side of the ledger. The post-workout "anabolic window" turns out to be wider than the industry once taught — total daily protein and its distribution across meals matter more than any sixty-minute ritual (Aragon & Schoenfeld, 2013). But aging adds one measurable wrinkle: older muscle is anabolically resistant, and the protein dose per meal needed to maximally stimulate synthesis rises — where young men plateau near twenty grams of high-quality protein after exercise, older men need roughly double that per meal for the maximal response (Kumar et al., 2009). 🧮 Soreness is not the signal

Delayed-onset muscle soreness is a poor gauge of both workout quality and recovery. Growth does not require it, its absence does not mean the session failed, and training to soreness every session is how over-forty men convert a health habit into a chronic-injury story.
