The eudaimonic/hedonic split is the most practical finding here. Pleasure (ice cream, scrolling, comfort) feels good and does little. Meaning (service, mastery, connection) sometimes feels effortful and does much. The gene-expression data suggests the body can tell the difference — the same subjective happiness, different biology.
